History

The Stuart Singers choir was founded in 1992 by Sheila and Gerry Palmer who had a strong background in singing, particularly musical theatre.  Their vision was to build a mixed voice choir that performed a wide repertoire and also raised money for good causes.

The choir initially met for rehearsals in a venue called Stuart House and this is where our name originated from.

Fast forward to the current day and the Stuart Singers remain a strong presence in our local community in Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire.  We also perform throughout the county by invitation in both formal and informal settings.  So, for example, we have sung numerous times in Gloucester Cathedral, the atrium of Gloucester Hospital, the Tetbury Goods Shed and even the High Street in Taunton.

We number around 50 singers and over the years have become confident enough to learn our music by heart so that we can engage better with our audiences and bring the music to life.
